Google wanted to have some fun visualizing how a Gmail email message travels around the world so they asked their users to collaborate with them on a video. Google filmed and released a clip that showed the start of the Gmail journey and asked participants to submit their own video takes of what happens next.
The clip above is the final release of the video based on the user submissions. Individual contributions can be viewed here.
This fascinating video manages to distill most of the big ideas of the last 50 years about computers and collaboration in under 5 minutes. It was created by anthropology professor Michael Wesch to explain Web 2.0 in a social context. The professor takes us on a web tour to explain hypertext and hyperlinking and concludes with the proposition that the web is really about people sharing, trading and collaborating to create shared knowledge and understanding.
The Strobist blog, a great resource on photography and lighting, has a great write-up on improving webcam video with better lighting and simpler backgrounds.
There’s also another short write-up on lighting for web conferencing on the O’Reilly website.
For best movie downloads, I recommend good website where everyone can buy and download movies instantly. Movie download, huge movie collection, fast downloads.
