Hugh McLeod has unleashed a batch of new cartoons on this blog, and this one among them stood out at a near perfect visual summary of what collaboration is all about.

December 18th, 2007How To Be Creative, written in the summer of 2004 by cartoonist and professional blogger Hugh MacLeod, started off as a roll-up post of ideas and opinions on creativity on McLeod’s website. It was then turned in to a slide deck and posted on ChangeThis.com, where it has gone on to become the most emailed manifesto on that site.
Here are the first five of his thirty-one tips:
1. Ignore everybody.
2. The idea doesn’t have to be big. It just has to change the world.
3. Put the hours in.
4. If your biz plan depends on you suddenly being “discovered” by some big shot, your plan will probably fail.
5. You are responsible for your own experience.

Three years on, McLeod’s riffs on creativity remain as fresh and relevant as when they were first written. And his blog is both hilarious and a must read of common sense on all things digital, webby and entrepreneurial. But a warning, it’s not for everyone due to some salty language and visuals.
